Happy New Year everyone! I can't believe that 2016 is already here! I'm totally looking forward to the potential it has for me! I'm linking up with Farley for her awesome Currently, PLUS doing a mini blog hop with a couple of NM Bloggers to bring YOU some awesome prizes and freebies. Check them out below!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
First, let's get down to business with Farley's Currently:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2hHOryLUqsMj90ONAMFDrWXhKQaQs8_dALzYNRLC8XNDmQv26Z7drVzeU_4lEW5wIG7-i65qwU5EYDgJAb31H1rD_jsr0nJxfunHVAFl3xV5ZAJV6BBTmH-JXGwMVzMOjDuEf8yHPuXGn/s1600/currently+jan+2016.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2hHOryLUqsMj90ONAMFDrWXhKQaQs8_dALzYNRLC8XNDmQv26Z7drVzeU_4lEW5wIG7-i65qwU5EYDgJAb31H1rD_jsr0nJxfunHVAFl3xV5ZAJV6BBTmH-JXGwMVzMOjDuEf8yHPuXGn/s640/currently+jan+2016.png" width="480" /></a></div>
<span id="goog_780130102"></span><span id="goog_780130103"></span>Listening:<br />
I was just listening to Landslide (covered by the Dixie Chicks) with my daughters and it had us all tearing up. It is such a timeless song that can mean so many different things depending on the stages of your life. I keep thinking about how they're growing up and how scary it is to think about them both being out of the house in a couple years. That will be a big change for me because I truly have built my life around them.<br />
<br />
Loving:<br />
Needless to say I have really enjoyed my break and am not ready to give up wearing my PJs all day and having the time to create. How many days until Spring Break?<br />
<br />
Thinking:<br />
I barely slept last night, not because I was up partying, but because my mind was swirling with so many ideas and possibilities and risks that I'm about to take this year. It left me unsettled, yet excited. It also left room for those pesky doubts to creep in. My goal is to banish self doubt in 2016 and believe in myself and what I do and what I'm capable of.<br />
<br />
Wanting:<br />
I think I say this almost every month. I want more time to plan, create, and learn but also more time with my girls. Cliche alert: It really does go by so fast!<br />
<br />
Needing:<br />
I need to calm my brain and the only way to do that is to figure out what I want to do, make a plan, write it down and get started. I'm a little impatient and sometimes I jump in the pool before I even check to see if there is any water in it. I need to be patient with myself and my progress.<br />
<br />
One little word:<br />
My little (but mighty) word this year is BE. We were actually talking about one word resolutions this morning and my family thinks I'm a weirdo for choosing the word BE. I like it because it is a word that can grow and change and morph into what I need it to be. I can BE amazing, or strong, or talented or kind. Or I can just BE in the moment. BE present.<br />
********************************************************************************<br />
Well, my friends, this Currently was a little more philosophical than usual, but I think the New Year does that to you. Now that I've dried my teary eyes, I can focus on some fun stuff!<br />
<br />
My NMBlogger friends and I teamed up to give you a mini blog hop with prizes and freebies. There are only 2 other stops so you TOTALLY have time to hop around for a minute or two. First, enter our giveaway! Who doesn't want a $30 TpT gift card?? Scroll All.The.Way.Down to grab a cute little winter freebie from me too!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBWh4zDYhJur6ppV-p1GYcfDJAz5mZ0WZ9MmbHEh4LIsDdlqCsFBhGMYqk18uHLRC_vrE1zWiIyfxQyVBsD25cgFevwLBqOKLaKwxlq_jiIZVlwju_lcdKufVhmD0wbtGFGeX6pgWoETqM/s1600/Slide06.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBWh4zDYhJur6ppV-p1GYcfDJAz5mZ0WZ9MmbHEh4LIsDdlqCsFBhGMYqk18uHLRC_vrE1zWiIyfxQyVBsD25cgFevwLBqOKLaKwxlq_jiIZVlwju_lcdKufVhmD0wbtGFGeX6pgWoETqM/s400/Slide06.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
I'm super lucky to have 24 iPads in my classroom, but I started out with just one little iPad 5 years ago that was funded by a <a href="http://donorschoose.org/">Donorschoose.org</a> project. I got a 2nd (same way) and then I wanted MORE! I wrote 5 grants and was about to give up when I finally won a grant and got 14 iPad minis for my students. Just recently, I convinced my principal to use some of our technology funds to get me 10 more so I can pilot a 1:1 classroom program in my school. I'm still learning about how to best implement technology in my classroom, and as quickly as things change, I'll always have to keep learning. Over the years, our iPads have become tools for learning and augmenting instruction.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjARWC8N3ZTa3rr7o8iIzAYzdKUQky6RG2CBkHVpdZ8NIE2_eMaCdC4SbBITCDEufd4YBRIIhm708y5a7wDfl_Mp5NySmbmqNbuT7fDcB0vj5MqSAI2ihyphenhyphenX78m-9wVAS3e3RXMLW9tXUg79/s1600/ipad+set+up.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjARWC8N3ZTa3rr7o8iIzAYzdKUQky6RG2CBkHVpdZ8NIE2_eMaCdC4SbBITCDEufd4YBRIIhm708y5a7wDfl_Mp5NySmbmqNbuT7fDcB0vj5MqSAI2ihyphenhyphenX78m-9wVAS3e3RXMLW9tXUg79/s400/ipad+set+up.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
<a href="https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/screenchomp/id442415881?mt=8" target="_blank">Screenchomp</a> is my favorite screencasting app so far and it's FREE! It's very kid friendly and easy to use too. Screencasting is just a video record of what you write or put on the screen and the audio in one nice little package. Two of my favorite uses are as an assessment tool and a reteaching tool. I love to use it as an assessment because I get to hear AND see what kids are thinking when they solve a problem in math, for example. I give the students different problems to solve, they write theirs down on the screen, hit record and start solving it as they talk through it. You can use this in any curriculum area! Some kids like to share their videos with the class and some are more shy. I have students copy and paste the link to their video to their notes so I can review them in one easy place. This is also an awesome thing to share with parents at conference time.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8tE2Y9gImmgS-2Kk0QoSs6D8ff-7Nf82VilWrf241jdMr0lGvJ59Zaf14UqGrHENyOZDENPE1MHc2VJ_G3XShYac9Qft5VYJ5vgCsqSmmIsMYVt0V0maYuTgWt0bOEelBJMnucf2cLx0-/s1600/Slide07.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8tE2Y9gImmgS-2Kk0QoSs6D8ff-7Nf82VilWrf241jdMr0lGvJ59Zaf14UqGrHENyOZDENPE1MHc2VJ_G3XShYac9Qft5VYJ5vgCsqSmmIsMYVt0V0maYuTgWt0bOEelBJMnucf2cLx0-/s400/Slide07.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
I also like to use <a href="https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/screenchomp/id442415881?mt=8" target="_blank">Screenchomp</a> to record mini lessons for my students to replay. This is awesome for your intervention group or for kids that just need reminders on how to do something. My goal is to have tutorials made for all the major skills I teach and have the links (via QR code) up on a bulletin board for students to access at anytime. You can also record directions for centers or for activities you want students to do independently. When you want to share a recording, just copy the link, paste it into a QR code generator and make a QR code that kids can scan easily so they don't have to type the link. Print out that QR code, stick it with your center materials or post around the room and you don't have to worry about kids not knowing what to do. You can also imbed photos to show kids visually exactly what to do. Click the pic to watch and hear one of my mini tutorials (warning: nothing fancy).<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.screenchomp.com/t/Nvvnvr5H" target="_blank"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHzGcw2VmZepzBY_oko2R6O-dxzWhl0hielbjkoeT6LxU-t2D9FoW_YyhkikiyzjNkB_HCca-wGU6_ybjbC4zVwHEYXYgQ59Cfv0f7h8BA_9PpsBOjAC5z6S8L0KJrOifIgHSMoBpJMOsv/s400/Slide08.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
Speaking of QR codes, I'm not sure what I'd do without them! In addition to making websites easily accessible for students, you can create QR codes with text. Mainly I use QR codes this way so students can check their answers for task cards. It provides immediate feedback and is highly motivating. I have also made audio QR codes with students' speeches, stories, and songs. See how I made audio QR codes here. BTW, parents love these! QR codes can also be used for classroom scavenger hunts. The possibilities are mind boggling. If you'd like to know more, download my <a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/The-How-and-Why-of-Using-QR-Codes-in-the-Classroom-1323551" target="_blank">free QR code info guide:</a><br />

<a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/The-How-and-Why-of-Using-QR-Codes-in-the-Classroom-1323551" target="_blank"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDJh_5WZvdPavg2FNNBoEoBx1d9knduy-VtYIRZyb4IH3uJrYudpswpQ5sBKnM6K67q_BUvRZb1_2Kc9Ruj0WR5YPkbQjCkioCN_O3PVFNKWKRi52j-XpB6jRCy8R0XKGp0oSUJb3iylf0/s400/Slide09.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
My grade level is departmentalized so I get to teach math all day to my 2nd graders. Two of my favorite apps (by the same developer) are <a href="https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/number-pieces-basic-by-math/id611452042?mt=8" target="_blank">Pieces Basic</a> and <a href="https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/number-line-by-math-learning/id751816884?mt=8" target="_blank">Number Line</a> and they are both FREE! They are super kid friendly and really help students solve addition and subtraction problems. <a href="https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/number-pieces-basic-by-math/id611452042?mt=8" target="_blank">Pieces Basic</a> is an app that has base 10 blocks while <a href="https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/number-line-by-math-learning/id751816884?mt=8" target="_blank">Number Line</a> has, you guessed it, number lines. Students can manipulate the blocks or the number line to suit the problem they are solving and even write on the screen. What I love is that the set up and clean up is a breeze! No more hauling out (and storing) sets of manipulatives and then cleaning up after your lesson. No more missing pieces or mess. Also, if you tap the information icon, there is a great How to Use section that you should definitely show students the first time they use it. Both apps are set up very similarly so it is easy for kids to use.<br />

<br />
Finally, I'm in love with <a href="http://nearpod.com/" target="_blank">nearpod</a>. I can't even say enough about it, but I talked about it briefly in <a href="http://onthegoteachermama.blogspot.com/2015/12/global-glitter-tribe-december-linky_14.html" target="_blank">another post</a> and I'll do it again! It is a way to push out content to your students' devices and control the pace of the lesson. There are interactive activities for students and their responses get sent to your device in real time. You can use this in the computer lab or with tablets. I tried it out for the first time this year and I'm hooked. There is a really <a href="http://www.iteachthird.com/2015/04/using-nearpod-in-digital-11-classroom.html" target="_blank">awesome tutorial</a> about it on the <a href="http://www.iteachthird.com/2015/04/using-nearpod-in-digital-11-classroom.html" target="_blank">iTeach Third</a> blog, which is where I first read about it. Just go. You won't regret it!<br />

First up, one of the easiest recipes you can make that will serve a family of four or can be doubled or tripled to serve a crowd is my Crockpot Chicken Tacos. Take a look:<br />

One of my favorite holiday read alouds is <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Too-Many-Tamales-Gary-Soto/dp/0698114124/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1449924602&sr=1-1&keywords=too+many+tamales" target="_blank">Too Many Tamales</a> by Gary Soto. I love this book because in my family we usually fight over the tamales because they are so delicious. You know you are loved when someone brings their tamales out of hiding to serve to you. In fact, this weekend we made 18 dozen tamales but we have to split them between four families, so we really don't have too many tamales...<br />

I've been so lucky the past two years because I have been getting some great technology to work with in my classroom. As of yesterday, I am officially a 1:1 teacher! I just got 10 more iPads and now I have 24! One of the things I love is using <a href="http://nearpod.com/" target="_blank">nearpod</a>. It is a lesson presentation system that pushes out content to your students' devices (tablets OR computers). You control the pace of the lesson slides and the students engage in interactive activities, quizzes, polls, videos, questions and more. The most awesome thing is that when they answer a question or do an activity, the results show up in real time on your device! I can instantly see who is really understanding the concepts or who needs more help. I can also send examples of student work to each device so we can have discussions. My explanation can't do it justice so you should check it out for yourself. You can sign up for free and there are many free <a href="http://nearpod.com/" target="_blank">nearpod</a> presentations plus you can make your own!! Here's a sample of the presentations I have in my library.<br />

I was preview shopping last month before the big sales and wandered into Bath and Body Works to pick out some scents for my daughters. I almost always shop online but you can't smell the scents online so I actually went to the mall...gasp! I totally fell in love with this new scent and then I couldn't decide which daughter to give it to so I bought it for myself!!! It's called Fresh Sparkling Snow and it just smells SOOO good.<br />

I'm doing a book study at school with Ron Clark's <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Move-Your-Bus-Extraordinary-Accelerating/dp/1501105035/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1449925714&sr=1-1&keywords=move+your+bus" target="_blank">Move Your Bus</a>, which is totally motivating the leader in me and kinda frustrating me at the same time. The concept is that your organization is a bus and instead of having an engine, the bus is propelled with the power of the people. Now, on your bus you have runners, joggers, walkers and riders plus (hopefully) a driver. I love Ron's description of the different types of workers and now I can't help but to constantly think if I'm being a runner or not. Check it out for yourself:<br />

When it snows around here in the desert (which it occasionally does) people freak out! I'm not kidding or exaggerating when I tell you that everyone expects a snow day when we get one inch of snow. We make tiny muddy snowmen and put on our winter gear and play around until about 2:00 in the afternoon when it melts. I'm a summer girl. Flip flops. Tank tops. Hot weather. Bring it on! I do not like to be cold so you can bet that if it snows, I'll be bundled up inside, fire roaring, sipping hot cocoa. I can enjoy how pretty it looks from inside. Here's a picture I took last year when we did actually get a good amount of snow (for us):<br />

I'm not even going to think about THAT countdown at the moment. Unfortunately, I'm in survival mode and barely hanging on. I had a week that made me want to hibernate for the rest of the month. It's Saturday morning and I woke up at 4:45 (not cool) but nevertheless, I gave myself an attitude adjustment, grabbed a big cup of coffee and jumped in with this post while everyone else is blissfully asleep in their warm beds. I'm linking up with FAB Farley:<br />

Listening: Ok, I just can't resist some 90's George, Tim, & Garth once in a while. It is nostalgia to a simpler time in my life. I had friends in low places, I could still hear the thunder roll and I didn't know what I was going to do in my next thirty years. I was young, fearless, and trying to build my life.<br />
<br />
Loving/Real or Faux: I love my pretty little fake tree. It is so easy to set up and twinkles and sparkles and shines. It is so easy, my teenaged daughters set it up and decorated all by themselves this year! I also really love that the hubs set it up on a timer to turn on at 5 AM (for a couple hours) so when I come downstairs in the morning, I have this beacon of warm twinkling light to guide me to the coffee pot! <br />

Thinking: I am so excited to meet up with my bloggy buddies I haven't seen since this summer! I hope the restaurant is ready to hear our squeals and laughter all night!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Wanting: My hubs and I decided to buy Fitbits for each other for Christmas. Romantic, right? Well, they arrived and I really, really, really, really want to start using it already! The main reason is that I'm running around like a mad woman lately and I want proof of how many miles/steps I actually take in a day.<br />
<br />
Needing: I did most of my shopping on black Friday from the comfort of my own home and the packages are starting to arrive! Unfortunately I have some tricky people to shop for: the in laws and my super picky, glitter-loving, stylish sister/teaching partner. I see her almost everyday and I can't figure out what to get her that is in my budget. Her birthday is on the 15th but she hates the combo gift thing. So I actually need to get her 2 presents. Her hints were a little (ok, a lot) above my budget and I want to get her something nice but I am just stuck. The in-laws are a whole different story. They have everything they need and don't have room in their place for more stuff. They're on the older side and don't get out much. Uggggg! The hubs is NO help. Plus he's turning 40 in two weeks and I don't know what to get him either. Maybe this is why I can't sleep.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10150761329617671320noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8525346616362621431.post-41024676205931236762015-12-01T18:34:00.000-08:002015-12-01T18:39:14.781-08:0012 Days of Giving FREEBIEHappy December everyone! Have you heard about the Global Glitter Tribe Blog's 12 Days of Giving? We're featuring 12 awesome freebies because we believe that we are stronger as a teacher community when we support each other.<br />

<br />
I whipped up this little freebie when I realized that my students are struggling with understanding how to solve word problems. Click the pic to get this <a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Holiday-Addition-Subtraction-Word-Problem-Task-Cards-FREEBIE-with-QR-Codes-2227865" target="_blank">FREEBIE</a>!<br />

<a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Holiday-Addition-Subtraction-Word-Problem-Task-Cards-FREEBIE-with-QR-Codes-2227865" target="_blank"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3_29mxMbUc96KJtuGL1uOCzQBntkDilwhESjJkL_zlp4Kbz48xd_IW9x6QRStKa0HJ0J3rY02gO_vPABsKb0FxNEead8ptgTMbqQM-LZjmtvM7VEKHZYl5jptdJgQBmUpKHqHEG7B9jmp/s400/Slide01.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
This product features 16 task cards with double digit addition and subtraction with a holiday theme. They all have QR codes that students can scan to check their answers. My students love using an iPad (or other device) to scan the QR codes. I love that my students are getting immediate feedback. Here's a sample:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Holiday-Addition-Subtraction-Word-Problem-Task-Cards-FREEBIE-with-QR-Codes-2227865" target="_blank"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIDkpm-vKPp79YlSaah_79BUyU5gpfI0SYJb9DZh99Y-7ns6LgdV0iglnlFiN-V2hhKqPW1YbvZ-xNd-wr6uR2JglCxCboYp4AZuUfz6qYv2v3LtzWWave58YhHuYAgq-6nwlmzW74Jkzz/s400/Slide04.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Just like all my other task card sets, it also includes a student recording sheet and answer key. I use task cards in a variety of ways. Sometimes, they are simply placed in a zip top bag, along with the recording sheets and placed in a math center. Other times, we play Scoot and kids get to move around the room from desk to desk to solve the problems. Sometimes I post them around the room scavenger hunt style. Their favorite way to use task cards is to do Quiz Quiz Trade.<br />

I have finally come through my food coma and Black Friday shopping daze. I don't know about you, but I'd much rather shop in my pajamas from the comfort of my own home. I did not step foot out the door yesterday except to see what an awesome job the hubs and my girls did on the lights. I was a little worried at one point when the hubs said he needed MORE lights and went to Home Depot. Meanwhile I was shop, shop, shopping online. It was all fun and games until my credit card company sent me a fraud alert. It turns out that red flags go up when you make several online purchases in one day. Who knew?<br />
<br />
Guess what? The shopping isn't over yet! I'm cultivating my TpT wish list so I can hit the big sales on Monday, leave feedback and use my credits on Tuesday!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Grateful: My list is huge! In fact, I journal everyday and one of the things I write about is what I'm grateful for. Sometimes it is just a simple thing like a great cup of coffee or a good night's sleep. It just starts the day off right for me. Of course my family is #1 on my list, but I am always so astounded at how lucky I am to have had all the opportunities that I have had in my life including my education, job, and leadership opportunities. Read about what I'm thankful for <a href="http://onthegoteachermama.blogspot.com/2015/11/thankful-linky.html" target="_blank">here</a>.<br />
<br />
Local: This is the time of year that kiddos get a bad case of the "gimmes". They are bombarded by media telling them to get the newest toys, electronics, games and fashions. I think it's really important to teach my students that not everyone is as lucky as they are. Our school started using each school event (math night, movie night, dances, etc.) as chance to do a nonperishable food collection. We support a local mobile food bank and I'd really love to see some of my students help or do work with the food bank beyond the donations.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi39DkPvMKYZarUvmyfNoGyvkiRtggOqZMGgho4PpIfCkG0v8_lB2Udlqa8aZCc_qUQnW4suE_RdUeWVtCN18ieaArmtXAk9mus-qpkl-tOPVtGYlBG1i7H4XOwZTMJPC_XH_C3NpasKOpZ/s1600/can+food+drive.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi39DkPvMKYZarUvmyfNoGyvkiRtggOqZMGgho4PpIfCkG0v8_lB2Udlqa8aZCc_qUQnW4suE_RdUeWVtCN18ieaArmtXAk9mus-qpkl-tOPVtGYlBG1i7H4XOwZTMJPC_XH_C3NpasKOpZ/s320/can+food+drive.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Organization: I really like to be organized. I'm a planner. I hate the feeling of not knowing what I need to do. I have days of the week drawers so everything is ready to go and all I have to do is grab and teach. One thing that I can't live without is a list! Recently I had an epiphany about my lists that led me to my latest approach. One week was particularly busy and I felt so overwhelmed with all the tasks that kept piling up so I took a few minutes to prioritize my list. That left it looking messy and disorganized so I started to rewrite it. Then it hit me! Instead of trying to guess what I'd be able to get done on certain days and then inevitably have to rewrite it when things didn't get done, I wrote each item on a mini sticky note and placed them on my desk organizer in order of priority. Now I can rearrange them easily when something else comes up. It has seriously changed my world! Now it looks much neater and I don't waste time rewriting my items.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Broad Perspectives: My 2nd graders are finally starting to learn some real world math skills such as telling time and counting money. I never miss an opportunity to tell them why what we're learning is important. It helps them see the big picture. The other day we were talking about why it is important to know how to tell time and how it could impact them in the workforce if they can't tell time. Now they never fail to remind me when we're late for recess!<br />
<br />
Artists: My coworkers introduced my to these awesome directed drawing tutorials on YouTube for kids. Just search Art Hub for Kids and you'll find tons of really great videos that teach real kids how to draw their favorite characters. They are awesome for those times when you have a sub or a little extra time at the end of the day. The videos are geared towards students but I love them too!<br />

I write things I'm grateful for each morning in my journal and they range from the big stuff like family & health, to the small things like a cup of coffee or a beautiful sunrise. Today I'm sharing what I'm thankful for most, including how TpT has changed my life.<br />

First off, I'm so thankful for my job! I am so fortunate to work in a great school with amazing kids, families, colleagues and admin. I love working with kids and know what a difference I'm making. The kids are the #1 reason I do what I do. They are so funny and sweet and even on the worst days, I have the best job!<br />

TpT has really changed my life. I'm not rolling in the big $$ or anything, but it has made it easier to do things for my kids that used to be a struggle. Now I don't worry about buying them new cleats or if we can afford their out of state tournaments. It has also provided me with resources that have made me a much better teacher. I also cherish the friendships I've made and the opportunities to meet amazing educators from across the globe.<br />

Last, but not least, I'm so grateful to my family. These people support me, listen to me talk incessantly about my job, encourage me to follow my dreams and celebrate my accomplishments (no matter how small). These people have shaped me and I love them all!<br />

CurrentlyMy oh my! November is here and that means holidays. Holidays mean family. Family means cooking, eating, shopping, hugging, arguing, playing games, enjoying each other, and time together.<br />
Before all the crazy begins and I start the countdown, I'm joining Farley for her November Currently linky.<br />
<center>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Listening: the house is empty except me and my little old dog, Scruffy. I think he's napping in the sunshine. That darn dryer has been running all day and kinda all weekend as I get caught up on laundry. Many people hate doing laundry but I don't mind. It makes everything all cozy and clean smelling.<br />
<br />
Loving: I was inspired to create some new task cards for our school's Star Wars themed math night and since I put so much work into them, I might as well put them on TpT. I've uploaded one set so far (click the pic to get it):<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Star-Wars-Double-Digit-Addition-Task-Cards-with-QR-Codes-2181315" target="_blank"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjguGtvf9UOKgOE62DC4pi1l9WrJOGBpem4XOyMvmKGOGeHb9tvE7qK-nglNcsXuCWTu1Ddnnt9UVpNouoSv9KQCbszpNp49FhNlA11i2483MRGCkUyAwbuPfhXHE4Xt4_UypDnuly5nX2O/s320/Slide01.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Star-Wars-Double-Digit-Addition-Task-Cards-with-QR-Codes-2181315" target="_blank"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbMUULFmb0t1UkvLYXuQKlNa0PvpUyh-Lakrmiu4ivnKRlTBBzgOZJEomn9yBRbmvihYUaXxHgXFw1clYAz9bv4p7LjtepyjF0cxVMwJiTWkDenOdEUTGuDNV0woCW2MIAsfTpUIt3zz1Q/s320/Slide04.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<center style="text-align: left;">
The rest will probably be uploaded tonight or tomorrow. I made double and triple digit addition and subtraction, time, money, base ten blocks, and expanded form. Judging by their Halloween costumes this year, I think the kids are going to love them!</center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<br /></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
Thinking: My hubs has an amazing opportunity within his current job to do some traveling to Denver. He leaves tomorrow for 4 days and I think I'm going to miss the heck out of him. </center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<br /></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
Wanting: I talked to my daughter today, who is away at college and she has her first bad cold away from home. To top it all off, she's traveling this weekend with her soccer team. It must be the pits being away from all the comforts of home and being sick on top of it all.</center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<br /></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
Needing: I seriously need to leave like any minute now....hoping I score another goal like last weekend! It's my turn to bring the after game beer so who even cares how we play???</center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<br /></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
Yummy: I am seriously in love with Starbuck's Salted Caramel Mocha (easy mocha, extra salt) and I'm sad that it will be going away shortly. I need to figure out how to make it!!! </center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<br /></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
Thanks for stopping by my blog today! I hope you have a fantastic November and that your holiday season is full of love, food, happiness, and fun.</center>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Totally Inspirational:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I've started learning more about Growth Mindset and I'm totally intrigued by what it can do for students. The other day during our Number of the Day discussion, a student made a mistake in the equation she was presenting. She felt a little embarrassed but I made sure to heap on the praise because she was able to recognize her mistake and correct it. I told the class how I just saw her brain grow double and she just beamed! Immediately I saw more students take risks in their mathematical thinking with just that one comment I made. I found this awesome bulletin board (sorry about pic quality) on Pinterest that makes so much sense! I'm thinking about how to adapt it for my 2nd graders.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.pinterest.com/pin/83105555601368995/" target="_blank"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdxgbCtZ-UoCU222P_x8cuA9j6WtQwYXFWqTfc9mStgnV8x6E2PNTOdVmmM_hQiBMGBFZbYgo5hZvUuamhuq2avkpqCpf6d4uJmpItp6XEl-KT-SxUZqIrXVF7XfvHAwVE7sa9RljPBJib/s640/growth+mindset+bb.jpg" width="478" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
Responsiveness:<br />
Normally I've always led the Number of the Day discussions in my class. This year I decided to shake things up a bit after the first two months. I let students come up and write their work on the board and lead a discussion about their thinking. I have discussion question prompts on the wall they can use if needed, but I really love when they challenge each other. My favorite is when they say, "Prove it!" and the leader can actually explain their thinking to the class. They also started asking the other students who agrees with the leader. The kids started having the most amazing discussions! It was painful and awkward at first, but their discussions have really started blossoming. Here are the questions I have posted on my wall. I got them from Guided Math in Action and made them into posters. Read more about the questions from <a href="http://onthegoteachermama.blogspot.com/2014/07/guided-math-in-action-book-study-ch-1-2.html" target="_blank">this post </a>and click the pic to download them for free.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByDsO6OW2lDnbVhYMGRzY21UWkE/edit" target="_blank"><img border="0" height="296" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjChDzhUmneLsYxK5V0_RomQd_C-I7z_0GdQrxkN7IPxxVl8q3nY9zxtHkJbsCBhNWTUfcyq6lhIAJ6OCfxLxUFcwGjkSVlCSmW40dwyeerMKV-4TS5wtViytGfbk72iYYLGFVBPq1q5PpK/s400/math+thinking+prompts+collage.png" width="400" /></a></div>
Igniting Passionate Readers:<br />
Even though I just teach math, I still have a substantial classroom library. Fast finishers can always grab a book to read for a few minutes. Plus, my homeroom students get to go book "shopping" each week for books to keep in their book bags to take to literacy class.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4IOHbwaqh8qJvOPBKsd76bJ6gFlWmhnuHXi5Fa-5Geq21sMadcNxInKyzLy84DAjJ9BVpzjH9nchjEWc8PlGlo4r6nb9DH0TZlJH_hyphenhyphenfZ5RBcnmigKNSuxM1JjcfX-dApJ0bOiaKsa7aq/s1600/day+2a.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4IOHbwaqh8qJvOPBKsd76bJ6gFlWmhnuHXi5Fa-5Geq21sMadcNxInKyzLy84DAjJ9BVpzjH9nchjEWc8PlGlo4r6nb9DH0TZlJH_hyphenhyphenfZ5RBcnmigKNSuxM1JjcfX-dApJ0bOiaKsa7aq/s320/day+2a.JPG" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">This is the fiction side, which makes up half the library.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
What really gets kids excited about reading is when I unveil my new monthly theme bookshelf. Each month is a different theme such as holidays, science topics they're studying with their science teacher or special authors. These books are always the most popular because they're only around for a limited time. It creates a hype about reading that is contagious! Here's my October selection:</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEE-lgLP38IXzWv-DSn4Q0QwPAfHimQ3Fj0S8gbu-mc7xqbdU608o6h64fNatZM4bYh7UYC1xLBFqjXLtB5Hkis2MFdiHZWt57E9UQT2J9Mfd_9kVt8TkAMhMM8tNWJLup8pF0U9cJ0WlV/s1600/IMG_4827.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEE-lgLP38IXzWv-DSn4Q0QwPAfHimQ3Fj0S8gbu-mc7xqbdU608o6h64fNatZM4bYh7UYC1xLBFqjXLtB5Hkis2MFdiHZWt57E9UQT2J9Mfd_9kVt8TkAMhMM8tNWJLup8pF0U9cJ0WlV/s320/IMG_4827.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Bridging the Gap:<br />
Since I teach math all day, I get to really hone in on the math skills my students are struggling with or doing well with. One way to bridge the gap is to meet with my students in a small group each day. Meanwhile, the other students are engaged in math stations. I like to differentiate my stations by having different levels for students. An easy way to do that is to assign certain tasks to certain students. They are just as fun as the other stations, and often look almost the same, but may have smaller numbers to work with or more basic skills (or review). One example is my Batty for Telling Time leveled task cards, which include three levels. You can also mix these cards up for a fun Scoot Activity or Quiz Quiz Trade. It's a bargain at only $3!<br />

Enjoying My Time:<br />
Who doesn't love binge-watching your favorite shows on Netflix? I've recently finished watching Orange is the New Black and Sons of Anarchy and stumbled across Bones, an old show I never got into until now. What I love about Netflix is that I don't have to watch commercials or even fast forward them. I watch while I iron and fold laundry on Sundays and it makes the task much more enjoyable!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10150761329617671320noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8525346616362621431.post-45078841199413191042015-10-22T15:01:00.001-07:002015-10-22T15:01:44.810-07:00Dried Up Glue Stick Solution: So Simple!I love using interactive notebooks BUT I hate the whole glue situation! Bottle glue is just not something the kids can use neatly. I don't even want it in my classroom! I usually confiscate it and use it for glue sponges later in the year (when we run out of glue sticks).<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPfNp_4bfmcMi7jxiVaeQ6VlMTRUapVX7Hm1h80n7sL4LV6xK5pXTlIpvcIBAEJDjKok5Jza0JvW9vpVPxMNfxxaStmqfL4U6d3JOVD4EkTsrY12urEykMKpMKBnJ5K-2mfXJfIBk6BzXu/s1600/no-glue.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="199" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPfNp_4bfmcMi7jxiVaeQ6VlMTRUapVX7Hm1h80n7sL4LV6xK5pXTlIpvcIBAEJDjKok5Jza0JvW9vpVPxMNfxxaStmqfL4U6d3JOVD4EkTsrY12urEykMKpMKBnJ5K-2mfXJfIBk6BzXu/s200/no-glue.gif" width="200" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div>
That means we're using glue sticks at the moment. Last year I got so aggravated when I'd find a perfectly good (or used to be) glue stick without a cap! Somehow that cap could not be found no matter how big of a hissy fit I'd have. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Eventually I smartened up and started this little beauty with two items I already had in my room: zip top baggie and a magnet.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgN1IvvNlMVAfm796J9CEG2j5Y0VY4926BVc3nCEIAWKBvpIxWc5goJf70FjnByGNPzu2RfaAFVAqDDjFJI58GSr75MILMJ9b2XnFRK2WSEqb0cIJ8nO6mPZy4YzVGxwieFHgVHk7vU53Cg/s1600/glue+caps.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgN1IvvNlMVAfm796J9CEG2j5Y0VY4926BVc3nCEIAWKBvpIxWc5goJf70FjnByGNPzu2RfaAFVAqDDjFJI58GSr75MILMJ9b2XnFRK2WSEqb0cIJ8nO6mPZy4YzVGxwieFHgVHk7vU53Cg/s400/glue+caps.png" width="300" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The first several times I threw away a glue stick that was used up, I simply kept the cap in the bag. Now I have a stash for those moments when those little darlings "lose" their caps. It sure has kept me from losing my mind! </div>
<div>
<br /></div>

This week was crazy! The kids were great but my mountain of tasks avalanched right around Tuesday and I've been digging out ever since. Anyway, this morning I realized I forgot all about my favorite linky!!! I jumped out of bed (not really) and tied up my hair in a messy bun, threw on jeans and a school t-shirt and ran (again, not really) to my laptop to get on board with Farley and her fab Currently linky.<br />

Listening: I just love listening to the Bobby Bones show every morning. It is just so full of happy/goodness/positivity and life affirming awesomeness. Plus I love country music.<br />
<br />
Loving: Like I said above...<br />
<br />
Thinking: This week was the kind of week that I just couldn't catch up. I decided to put each task on a mini sticky note with the due date and arrange them on my usual hand written weekly to do list. It worked great because I got to triumphantly throw away the stickies of items I finished and move stickies around as other, more pressing, tasks came up.<br />
<br />
Wanting: My baby is a college girl now and I got to talk with her on the phone last night while her team was traveling to Denver on the bus. She sounds so great but it made me want to drive to Denver just to get a big ol' hug from her. I miss her like crazy...<br />
<br />
Needing: Fall break is next Thursday and Friday and I seriously CAN NOT WAIT!! Thursday I have a lasik consultation and Friday I get to do whatever I want!! I've got some great ideas for new products swirling around in my head. The inspiration is there, just not the time.<br />
<br />
Boo-tiful: Of course the most boo-tiful things in my world are my girls. Can you tell I'm a proud mama?<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here's what I did:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiy-D0_YSCQWGrvimaPd1avxs5voSXZ1OvASVAX1KKhEZs1BAv5_v1hWPVGi7R8WtKlqzyX85Y9WSrY-SZm_ZIeLWE6E3blr7_rJkwJPhVPxbS59LjGoBU5c-MbR71k5RzEUR3wSgCsJ9pZ/s1600/gg+sept+15+linky.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiy-D0_YSCQWGrvimaPd1avxs5voSXZ1OvASVAX1KKhEZs1BAv5_v1hWPVGi7R8WtKlqzyX85Y9WSrY-SZm_ZIeLWE6E3blr7_rJkwJPhVPxbS59LjGoBU5c-MbR71k5RzEUR3wSgCsJ9pZ/s640/gg+sept+15+linky.png" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Lesson I loved: I had so much fun teaching even and odd numbers this week. On the first day, I made a few kids stand up, we counted them and then I asked them to partner up with someone also standing. We made a big deal about how sometimes someone doesn't have a dance partner, so that is an odd number. After doing this with several numbers, one kid said, "Mrs. Palmer, why don't you be his partner so he doesn't have to dance alone?", and of course I said I would be his partner and started to go towards him dancing. He ran back to his seat and said, "It's ok, I don't need a dance partner!". I always love to read in math class too, so I read Even Steven and Odd Todd.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
One issue I'm passionate about: The teacher evaluation system in my state is a joke. It's only 2 years old and already our union is suing our Public Ed Dept because there were so many mistakes in data that impacted teachers' ratings. It was as if our Governor looked at all the failing systems in the country and picked the worst one to implement with us. I could go on and on, but basically 50% of our eval is based on this crazy mathematical equation that not a single person understands that takes test scores (from the previous year) and somehow makes them into a rating. Also, we get penalized for using more than 4 of our 10 sick days a year. Not cool.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

Activity to Share: Since the 2nd week of school I have been doing Number Talks/Number of the Day with my students and I am amazed at the rise in level of mathematical thinking coming out of their brains! After doing a little modeling, they really have been challenging themselves to come up with ways to impress me. Of course, it helps that when someone does impress me, I write a note home to their parents! Since then, I have kids decomposing numbers like pros, counting on and back, doing multi-step equations, and even using multiplication concepts AND being able to prove that their ways to show the number of the day work. They're using vocabulary, demonstrating with confidence, having discussions and fixing their mistakes. These are 2nd graders!!!! They blow my mind daily! They love number talks so much, that they BEG to do more! I use a simple bubble map that I laminated for reuse. </div>

Little Known Fact: Yes, I have met President Obama! It was before he became President and had come to New Mexico for a rally. My hubs knew a secret service agent, who got me in the front row! After his speech, he came down and shook our hands. I was too nervous to remember to take a picture, but I have a witness! </div>

I was lucky enough to be paired up with Katie Palmer, another 2nd grade teacher from <a href="http://www.popintoprimary.com/2015/07/best-back-to-school-tip.html" target="_blank">Pop into Primary</a>. Check out her awesome <a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/Pop-Into-Primary" target="_blank">TpT store</a> that features great Word Work Activity Books! Since I teach math, I got her <a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/See-It-Solve-It-Math-Reading-Mashup-1134219" target="_blank">See It, Solve It Stories Math and Reading Mashup</a>, which is perfect for 2nd-3rd graders.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/See-It-Solve-It-Math-Reading-Mashup-1134219" target="_blank"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9uj__KqVMktK_fNp7XbBLa25TJhRHDFACIOZJ6354U8w310WMfJfpNSey7qjU4gNfZ99qaQnf6W-Xd-NgKV2EeHdQXzzJ4FO1xYw4GNYs5cwRMBhd4JeX1GUm_5Zt_1N8B31QsDrDxkQ8/s400/Screenshot+2015-08-07+20.08.12.png" width="298" /></a></div>
<br />
It's a great product that combines reading and math in one! Students read letters to a detective and solve the problems. They also need to find the caps and punctuation errors in the letters. They work on counting and adding and subtracting money too!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVxTQ-Ns-TdvGnfA10WodEEw20pMf0E9WaOyky8tmfLSjWPSie3fYHYz6qIC3svR3feLo-c_8MtCV-TUZhJCBdrtdPamZ345EIybWiU5RLjhh3vKtxQxICxdm-0v18kU9m3-FHtjvHTxuh/s1600/Screenshot+2015-08-07+20.08.35.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVxTQ-Ns-TdvGnfA10WodEEw20pMf0E9WaOyky8tmfLSjWPSie3fYHYz6qIC3svR3feLo-c_8MtCV-TUZhJCBdrtdPamZ345EIybWiU5RLjhh3vKtxQxICxdm-0v18kU9m3-FHtjvHTxuh/s400/Screenshot+2015-08-07+20.08.35.png" width="297" /></a></div>
<br />
What I love about this product is that it crosses over curriculum areas and makes the most of your time, while engaging students in a fun mystery to solve! Once they solve all 8 problems, they use the information to get the answer to the mystery.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I can't wait to use this product with my 2nd grade students a little later in the year. I know they'll love reading the letters, looking for mistakes and solving the problems to crack the code! I will probably make a copy of the letters for students while projecting it on the Promethean Board, that way they can circle the mistakes on their own, but still get support with reading the letters if needed. I think it will be so fun for kids to try to make guesses to solve the mystery! I'm looking forward to hearing their theories!<br />

I worked in my classroom for a couple hours today doing my favorite thing: bulletin boards! The rest of the room is a hot mess, but that's ok! Today is the beginning of an awesome, huge, amazing BTS Blog Hop and Giveaways.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

1. This is so hard in the world we live in. We are constantly bombarded by social media pressures to be perfect. Don't compare yourself to other teachers in your building, district or anywhere! It is so easy to get sucked into what I call "Pinterest Perfectionism". The only person you should compare yourself is you! Challenge yourself to be a better you, that's all.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgwNI0hyphenhyphenfBKbGfksEHhjeGwdezB6bQ3mqzzEPAXsRphbTBdWA-3GfboIgklZurWzBmOktVb9zxngcCdDmd_oYgyuDryUDzOHiZ8hvC0CgL2_jiZSw_ppaCoyTKLXJCQgawV8RoGHNBShA1/s1600/comparison.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="197" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgwNI0hyphenhyphenfBKbGfksEHhjeGwdezB6bQ3mqzzEPAXsRphbTBdWA-3GfboIgklZurWzBmOktVb9zxngcCdDmd_oYgyuDryUDzOHiZ8hvC0CgL2_jiZSw_ppaCoyTKLXJCQgawV8RoGHNBShA1/s200/comparison.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
2. Don't try to hard to be somebody else. I'm not saying you can't have someone you look up to or who inspires you. Just put your own spin on it.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiliiJbG5e2ppA_ECD0zGhaKBKP26Rf9RXlkCFTYAED_BF7UhEVoSUsPBU4bpmsesP5KSEkGzpE4kJvn0OfzSRqla0geA_oLlF2684t6NkiBDxg7tUaTmTdbHdbeE0XUYJMv82fa91wZcZ-/s1600/unicorn.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="140" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiliiJbG5e2ppA_ECD0zGhaKBKP26Rf9RXlkCFTYAED_BF7UhEVoSUsPBU4bpmsesP5KSEkGzpE4kJvn0OfzSRqla0geA_oLlF2684t6NkiBDxg7tUaTmTdbHdbeE0XUYJMv82fa91wZcZ-/s200/unicorn.jpeg" width="200" /></a></div>
3. What I really mean is: be realistic. We all have this fantasy in our minds about the perfect first day of school. Don't try to take on too much. Spend more time getting to know your kids and letting them get to know you. Slow down and enjoy these little people.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipJcnIOf_iuO96HEWkTTCnCHR36rCdJ5buCrWb8wvhuKWEHfpsN38ciRgJHV5amRbiwhCBCZ8h2f8IZETX6Oa1DgZdctMSocCaOCGnxUOv0J4E9yemnypU3WuSTwcY-jXfNidqFn2BHK7q/s1600/perfect.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="158" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipJcnIOf_iuO96HEWkTTCnCHR36rCdJ5buCrWb8wvhuKWEHfpsN38ciRgJHV5amRbiwhCBCZ8h2f8IZETX6Oa1DgZdctMSocCaOCGnxUOv0J4E9yemnypU3WuSTwcY-jXfNidqFn2BHK7q/s200/perfect.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
4. You might be freaking out inside, but if you just smile like crazy, nobody will know. Chances are that you'll feel better too.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUPRC7jfi69aexIzxP8mgf52KzfJ9AKkY6-zWArvUu6lsePBgxNmZeHEDnyBrf37Co3RChNCjBBCObQgWbu73LieZIEPkSKVS0PIpye7QRH0QnX0vpuv5ZEkh_W6iVwfT20yaAgV8SvrTR/s1600/just+smile.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUPRC7jfi69aexIzxP8mgf52KzfJ9AKkY6-zWArvUu6lsePBgxNmZeHEDnyBrf37Co3RChNCjBBCObQgWbu73LieZIEPkSKVS0PIpye7QRH0QnX0vpuv5ZEkh_W6iVwfT20yaAgV8SvrTR/s200/just+smile.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
5. It's not a competition to see who has the cutest theme or bulletin boards. Don't forget why you're really here! Remember, it's their first day too and they are feeling a billion emotions and just want to know they are going to be accepted and taught with love this year.<br />

I have mixed feelings about back to school time. On one hand, I'm refreshed and energized and ready to GO! On the other hand, I really did enjoy my lazy mornings on the back patio with a cup of coffee and my doggie. Sigh. Summer is never long enough!</div>
<br />
Well, I'm linking up with Chrissie from <a href="http://undercoverclassroom.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Undercover Classroom</a> and Sarah from <a href="http://educationelectrification.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Education Electrification</a> for First Day Tried and True: A Back to School Linky Party. There will be tons of tips from teachers who have survived their first day (some of us over and over and over) and came out tired but smiling! Read through to the end of my post for a freebie and a giveaway!<br />

<br /></div>
The first day of school is 100% crazy. You have 20-something little angels looking at you with a wide range of expressions on their faces. You also have just as many parents looking at you the same way. The first day of school is always a whirlwind of supplies, rules, getting to know you activities and hopefully, lots of smiles and fun.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUjmhjh_XxjyrSvafDl5xskY_OuI3vLFq-v2MsmA16ey-BJ9SmEiG0UVV4hT5COdz-_MUp-bD5imEI9diA4DbnaHyGLLK5tZJ2EHT905JDl8lEEioTUnd2WGO1RA8SHo4P1vd-Svy8G02f/s1600/supplies.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUjmhjh_XxjyrSvafDl5xskY_OuI3vLFq-v2MsmA16ey-BJ9SmEiG0UVV4hT5COdz-_MUp-bD5imEI9diA4DbnaHyGLLK5tZJ2EHT905JDl8lEEioTUnd2WGO1RA8SHo4P1vd-Svy8G02f/s320/supplies.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
You have to set the tone for the entire year and it happens in the first 10 minutes! No pressure, right? I used to start with sorting school supplies and many anxious and lingering parents trying to "help". It wasn't how I wanted to start the year, but I didn't know what else to do. A couple years ago, I did something just a little radical...I kissed the parents goodbye!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYPhH7DxF0clVfeNQ_t-zb-XkP8RfQKhI0idgvBB3Nur9j-wNdD9qy4K1Q44QMZ0n-wb1aQAxcqc17f_CxvI8Y3PqhkbQRG7vLaVUgbN25TGtHmfg2mdY8CNWLaRAkXV9z27elyg9datY4/s1600/185017-emoji-blowing-kiss.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYPhH7DxF0clVfeNQ_t-zb-XkP8RfQKhI0idgvBB3Nur9j-wNdD9qy4K1Q44QMZ0n-wb1aQAxcqc17f_CxvI8Y3PqhkbQRG7vLaVUgbN25TGtHmfg2mdY8CNWLaRAkXV9z27elyg9datY4/s200/185017-emoji-blowing-kiss.png" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
Let me explain just a bit. My students are instructed to line up in a prearranged spot each morning. Of course, there are parents wanting to come into the classroom instead to talk to you and drop off supplies and make sure you know about their peanut allergy, etc. It was so stressful for me and I started the day frazzled. What I do now is to lock my door and put a sign on it that says I'll meet them in the lining up area at a certain time. I actually leave my classroom and hide out until the designated time, about 5 minutes before the bell rings. This gives me time to talk to parents and make sure the kiddos know where to go.<br />
<br />
When the bell rings, the kiddos line up and I go down the line to talk to each one. I give a high five or fist bump to each one and tell them how excited I am that they're in my class. Then I tell all the kids to turn and look at the parents and blow them a big, fat, juicy kiss and say goodbye. This usually solves the problem of parents hanging around.<br />
<br />
Now is my favorite part. I tell all the kids to hang up their backpacks and bags and DO NOT UNPACK them. They are to meet me on the carpet while I play a fun song such as The Happy Song. Once everyone is sitting down, I spend about 10-15 minutes just talking with them and telling them a little about myself. I also like to show pictures of my family and my dog so they see me as a real person. Then I ask them to give me thumbs up if they're excited, scared, nervous, happy, etc. and I let them know I feel all those feelings too.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrHUBNYGOU26aoSMF9ufdYtSoMkzra0_RqBWl60QlJ4Y4xKVxMU6LXzbg2NGq1y0qBcm-nhyvUdK-X00N0XCxlOeE-fMWPahsyW9kyTcwXxaBKQsvXWPuTwxjnxYOyJDE0kkywwm6RbU-f/s1600/blogger-image-1397749665.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="232" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrHUBNYGOU26aoSMF9ufdYtSoMkzra0_RqBWl60QlJ4Y4xKVxMU6LXzbg2NGq1y0qBcm-nhyvUdK-X00N0XCxlOeE-fMWPahsyW9kyTcwXxaBKQsvXWPuTwxjnxYOyJDE0kkywwm6RbU-f/s320/blogger-image-1397749665.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Then, I pass out a few pages from my <a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Back-to-School-Memory-Book-and-First-Week-Activities-1355125" target="_blank">Back to School Memory Book</a> that are very easy for them to work on while I do attendance, lunch count, etc. I also play some classical music quietly to set the tone. This is the perfect time to start sorting supplies. While they are coloring and drawing in their books, I will call a few children at a time to sort out their supplies into buckets on my small group table. This takes the chaos out of supply sorting and allows me to take note if anyone is missing any supplies, while all students are engaged in a fun activity. I always have a few buckets of crayons and colored pencils at each table at the beginning since all their supplies are still packed.<br />

I'm sitting here in my room, dog tired but my brain is buzzing (and it's not the mojito). I decided to pop open the laptop that's been sitting in the corner of my room all week and get some of the magic that I've experienced into this little ol' blog.<br />
<br />
I attended the TpT conference last year as a new seller and I was so inspired, but I also felt very small and very lonely. I decided to go with some new blogging buddies this year, but I also wanted to make it my mission to make more connections and befriend some people who are probably feeling just like I did last year. This morning was my chance and I met the sweetest girl from Kansas and made her my new bestie! Her name is <a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/Stephanie-High-1434" target="_blank">Stephanie High</a> and her store is called <a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/Stephanie-High-1434" target="_blank">Teaching on a Cloud</a>. How cute is that?? She makes really great ELA resources for 2nd grade. Check out her store!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgf5X-6poQ5yckt2j6JWUlXtHcoBr7E08wX0f0ai4dD1eVEDx5i54hmHLxZzbDXoFqtUobPbmnZrf9fOU0CUmol3H9tPCLut22taE2Fv_H-e2VE9b6iTAX_u1Lra2aEoHWpHodNzJ0F-mPf/s1600/teacher+friends1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="265" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgf5X-6poQ5yckt2j6JWUlXtHcoBr7E08wX0f0ai4dD1eVEDx5i54hmHLxZzbDXoFqtUobPbmnZrf9fOU0CUmol3H9tPCLut22taE2Fv_H-e2VE9b6iTAX_u1Lra2aEoHWpHodNzJ0F-mPf/s320/teacher+friends1.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
One of my other goals was to have the courage to go up to my hero, Amy Lemons, and actually speak words to her and take a picture with her. I was way too shy to do it last year and have been kicking myself since. She is a sweet woman with a heart of gold AND she makes some pretty great products that I use in my classroom all.the.time!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNBcD1Ck-I_WopGkozeO42wl_9j5Uw9pqmaTsnCsVu3a-5JJ5Zr-T0jRJBoWnpJ4AXcCxmo9pRyRhx_hatGNebTKAW2v8KJ3CxpyLSyUgnVWmvGK0kgBjwDWLbVtnVzPF5mt6t_1H_Yd2b/s1600/AMY+LEMONS.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNBcD1Ck-I_WopGkozeO42wl_9j5Uw9pqmaTsnCsVu3a-5JJ5Zr-T0jRJBoWnpJ4AXcCxmo9pRyRhx_hatGNebTKAW2v8KJ3CxpyLSyUgnVWmvGK0kgBjwDWLbVtnVzPF5mt6t_1H_Yd2b/s320/AMY+LEMONS.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
You may be asking what I have learned that might help you as a fellow TpT author or even as a teacher. The answer isn't so simple. Yes, I've learned some strategies to take my store to the next level by using social media to market my products. I've learned how important design concepts are in making great and appealing products. What I've really learned is so much deeper than what the presenters have shared.<br />

Most importantly, I've learned that when you do what I just listed, the bonus is making friendships and connections.<br />
<br />
So are these TpT lessons, or are they life lessons?<br />
<br />
BTW, I got these glitterific clip art from <a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/Glitter-Meets-Glue-Designs" target="_blank">Glitter Meets Glue</a> (LOVE) just because I had the guts to put myself out there and go talk to her.<br />

When I wrote the date in my journal this morning, it hit me like a ton of bricks. I knew it was coming, but how can it be July? What happened to sweet, lazy June? Well, like it or not, July is here and I'm linking up with the <a href="http://ohboy3rdgrade.blogspot.com/2015/06/currently-july-2015.html?showComment=1435770065326#c4087588996299399800" target="_blank">fab Farley over at Oh Boy Fourth Grade </a>for her monthly Currently. Listening:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm a child of the 80's and this music just gets me thinking about my awesome childhood! We ran around the neighborhood in our Jellies shoes all summer long, playing whatever game we made up and only stopped by the house for lunch and dinner. The only rule was to be home by the time the street lights turned on. When it was too hot to be outside, we walked to the library to get the latest Sweet Valley Twins books or played school or with our Barbies and Cabbage Patch Kids. We built forts, roller skated down the sidewalks, played in the sprinklers or on our Slip and Slide, rode our bikes to the park, chased the ice cream truck, played soccer in the street and set up neighborhood games of hide and seek. We would go up to our grandma's cabin on the weekends to get out of the heat and went fishing, walked the streams in our bare feet, roasted marshmallows and drank as many Shastas as we could sneak! Our grandmas would spoil us by slipping us extra candies or homemade cookies. It really was a great childhood. We used our imaginations, we played, we had freedom! </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
My hubs and I have been getting chubby so we joined a gym. My main goals are to lose a little weight, be able to keep up better in my soccer games and maybe fit in my clothes a little more comfortably. I'm not a huge fan of "working out". I prefer to play a sport for exercise, but it just isn't cutting it anymore. I'm still new to the gym and trying to figure out what will work for me. I love the energy I feel after I go and how it improves my mood. I am really hoping I can figure out a way to continue to work out when school starts.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Thinking:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm a go getter, but even I feel that there is so much pressure on us teachers even in the summer to do more, more, more. It is even more compounded by the pressures of being a seller on TpT to keep at it 24/7. I don't want to get burned out, but I REALLY want to be successful. I try hard not to compare myself with others, but it's so hard to understand why some people are more successful than others. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjs3SvMn_-YpvD2HCMbHB8LntvmD52MTpcWame_tNKRjUh_gbtYQGUl-7c7SDJXAMYoDh7hTwfs6PCgovrKH2Mi5MnDIkDn8mfUXTbZFzQEfsaAV9bRfduamXG96jJVsmsYnm-nb_4PQMGu/s1600/comparison.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjs3SvMn_-YpvD2HCMbHB8LntvmD52MTpcWame_tNKRjUh_gbtYQGUl-7c7SDJXAMYoDh7hTwfs6PCgovrKH2Mi5MnDIkDn8mfUXTbZFzQEfsaAV9bRfduamXG96jJVsmsYnm-nb_4PQMGu/s1600/comparison.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I don't want this to consume my life. I don't want to look back and regret working so much. I think the only way to balance everything is to listen to your heart, set your own goals that don't have to be measured against others, and carve out time to do things you want to do and need to do. I'm not quite there yet, but I'm working on it. Above all, I want to be happy.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

My great grandparents came here from Italy to make a better life for their families. I grew up eating my grandmother's delicious pastas and have finally learned to make her ravioli, but my next challenge is to learn to make gnocchi. The main character, Enza, makes gnocchi that make my mouth water. I know it can be tricky to make them like pillows instead of lead sinkers so I will probably have to try out several methods and recipes before I perfect it. This is also why I needed to join a gym.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
My phone is ancient, but it still works so I'm holding off on upgrading. I have some major expenses coming up like my trip to Vegas, driving school for my 15 year old, and setting up my oldest daughter in her dorm room, plus her car needs work before she leaves. My old phone's battery is horrible and I have to charge the sucker several times a day. I don't want to be hindered in Vegas so I think I need to buy a portable charger, which I hope is cheaper than a new phone. Anyone have a recommendation?</div>

This linky is based on the popular 3-2-1 method you can also use in your classroom. First up, 3 things about me as a teacher:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwtdP6GbAdonJAYi5McUajltyqxgTww0nybxTT9qSlkiZW6YlB5OtnCmgxcz4xAN0JMt9BKpWsmETMypyeKmvjjPsl9zAQyOPv_P9W8mi4ElJylQtQpfgH6FwkngtWZ4iSHbsFGR_j6TOn/s1600/www+june+3.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwtdP6GbAdonJAYi5McUajltyqxgTww0nybxTT9qSlkiZW6YlB5OtnCmgxcz4xAN0JMt9BKpWsmETMypyeKmvjjPsl9zAQyOPv_P9W8mi4ElJylQtQpfgH6FwkngtWZ4iSHbsFGR_j6TOn/s640/www+june+3.png" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
1. I get bored easily so I like to change things up quite often. Don't get me wrong, I live and die by my classroom routines and procedures. My classroom runs like a well oiled machine (by about October), which frees up my creative side to bring in fun lessons, activities, games, centers, and new things to keep the kids on their toes.<br />
2. I'll try just about anything techy. I just spent two days at a tech PD last week and I have a few more planned for the summer.<br />
3. I'm so lucky to be team teaching with 2 amazing coworkers this year and I will only have to teach math this year! Woohoo! I love teaching math because even though there is usually only one correct answer, I love teaching different ways to get there. I didn't love math growing up (I'd rather read), but now I prefer to teach it over any other subject.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3fsQvmnYOZZr2htHShaYjycoHbN8SNO8CdV21ppX9P5HHyKF2Jwl1884OPbmfI9QzfIoYtU2svWXPbs0HFXg17Vqme6Bn3D7k_plUIQEiHEYOOSo5eRyuDA7Xk5kmJPkL7OWNYCpUS69A/s1600/ww+june+2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3fsQvmnYOZZr2htHShaYjycoHbN8SNO8CdV21ppX9P5HHyKF2Jwl1884OPbmfI9QzfIoYtU2svWXPbs0HFXg17Vqme6Bn3D7k_plUIQEiHEYOOSo5eRyuDA7Xk5kmJPkL7OWNYCpUS69A/s640/ww+june+2.png" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1. This overlaps with the teacher in me. I have trouble just sitting still and doing nothing. I must have something to do, read, or think about. My mind is constantly 3 steps ahead of what I'm currently doing, which can cause me to be somewhat impatient with myself and others. I can't stand to not feel productive and get things done. I can relax, but it is only when I'm reading.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
2. I know most people don't like to clean, but I really really really hate it. The problem is that I like living in a clean house. Disorganization drives me crazy. I just don't want to be the one to do the actual cleaning. When my kids were very young I taught them how to do many chores around the house and now we clean the house as a team. All of us just work really hard for a couple of hours on a Sunday and get it done. I feel much better if I'm not the only one cleaning. It also helps if I have some good 80's music blasting on Pandora. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

My bucket list is pretty huge, but my #1 thing would be to travel through Italy eating fresh pasta and anything else they want to put in front of me. My grandmother is Italian and she recently taught me how to make pasta, but I want MORE! I want to go to Italy like Liz in Eat, Pray, Love and just taste everything! In order to justify eating all that pasta, I will walk and walk and walk amongst the beautiful buildings, museums, and sights.<br />

Honestly, my goals have evolved over time. Originally I wanted to make a few extra bucks to help pay for my daughters' club soccer fees, uniforms, tournaments and gear. Now, I'm dreaming big! Why not??<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwXc7dzhyrlERZ3SKoM8C4NWq-P6mlNLstO1HUIeSjvG42WfVqpUKuyh3CY78NMjy7EcId-tY2kn7WLcxyC-apfB9vAgWVNSo9-O6ibamT68IODxSeH-JK5d3H7uDojKcKTKsDR108x9lB/s1600/dream+big.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="393" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwXc7dzhyrlERZ3SKoM8C4NWq-P6mlNLstO1HUIeSjvG42WfVqpUKuyh3CY78NMjy7EcId-tY2kn7WLcxyC-apfB9vAgWVNSo9-O6ibamT68IODxSeH-JK5d3H7uDojKcKTKsDR108x9lB/s400/dream+big.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1. Financial Freedom: I mean, who doesn't want this? It would be so nice to be able to pay my bills and mortgage and have p-l-e-n-t-y of money left over so I wouldn't have to stress about unexpected expenses that inevitably come up. I would also really LOVE to not have to clean my house. Seriously, that is a big one for me. I don't think I would stop working (yet) even if I had this elusive "financial freedom" but it would sure be nice to be able to if I wanted. It would be super cool to have everything paid off too. I'm dreamin' BIG, right?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
2. My girls have a little college fund but I would love for them to graduate with as little debt as possible. The oldest heads off to college in August and we just found out that her tuition and room/board went up. Sigh. I would love to help her out now and then so she could start her life without the burden of student loans to pay off. My youngest is planning on med school so I think debt is pretty much guaranteed, but it would be great if she started off with her undergrad covered. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
3. I know I get a retirement (in 14 years) from teaching, but my hubs doesn't have that guarantee. I want him to be able to contribute the max to his 401k so we can make our retirement dreams a reality. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
4. I dream of cruises, beaches and european vacations on a daily basis. My husband and I work extremely hard and vacations are the only way to keep our sanity. My dream is that my whole family can take a cruise together! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
5. I would love to either have the extra money to donate to charities, or the time (by not having to work) to volunteer more than I do currently. If I ever hit the big time, I dream of setting up an after school club for kids at my school to learn to cook, get some exercise, use technology and get help with their homework or reading & math skills. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<br />
Sadly, I was teaching at a camp all week and was beyond tired at the end of the day. I finally got around to blogging about the makeover I recently gave one of my first products. It was a very basic (and obviously beginner) set of math task cards. Gag!<br />

What a huge difference! If you ever downloaded this in the past, please go back and download it again. It's like a whole new product! I'm also putting it on sale for $1 until I complete the next TpT Seller Challenge!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10150761329617671320noreply@blogger.com4
