Two for Tuesday-and a GIVEAWAY!!

Even if you don't have access to the technology (iPad, iPod, tablets) to scan the QR codes, you can still use these task cards just like any other task cards. I often set up one or two iPad scanning stations so students can scan when they're ready or I include an iPad/iPod in the center when I set it up during math stations. The kids really love it! It is super easy and this sale is a great way to check out using QR codes with little risk.

Monday Meet Me!

I'm linking up with The Teaching Tribune for this awesome Summer Bloggin Party! I loved it so much last week that I'm back for more!

I have been teaching 2nd grade for 6 of my 10 years of teaching. I have a few "what was I thinking" moments every year, but I really do love those little darlings.

If you asked my colleagues to use one word to describe me, they'd probably say "technology". I just think it is so fun to learn new ways to reach my students with technology and I just can't get enough. Give me one iPad, I'll want 20.

My husband and I usually watch Netflix so we can avoid commercials, but there are some shows I just have to watch almost immediately. The Walking Dead is one of those shows. I can't explain why I love it. It's gory and gross but it fascinates me.

I will listen to most any type of music, but I keep coming back to country. All those country boy singers aren't too bad to look at either.

I get to read so little during the school year, so when summer comes, I'll read anything. I like historical fiction, contemporary fiction and even biographies. I also love to read whatever my daughters are reading so we can talk about their books. I'm working on the Divergent series now.

I know all teachers love summer, but I REALLY love summer. I love the hot weather, the freedom, having my girls home with me, the laziness and the time to catch up with old friends and family. I'm a flip flop kinda girl and my toes can't wait to get out!

I have been blogging like crazy this week! It has been pretty fun linking up with The Teaching Tribune for their Summer Bloggin series. If you haven't checked it out, I highly suggest that you do! There are freebies! I have really enjoyed linking up with them and it's so nice to have the time to blog during the summer. I have also been busy working on some new products that will eventually be bundled together in a mega bundle. My goal is to have a set of activities (task cards, worksheets, cut & paste, foldables) for each math CCSS. Here's the first set:

Wednesday was a crazy day! We had one car at the mechanics to fix the AC (it's been in the high 90's) and then my car overheated while my daughter was attempting to take her sister to her soccer tryouts! She freaked out but it was lucky that she was close to home. I had to call in a big favor from my sis (she owed me one) to take her instead. Sadly, I missed my first summer soccer game. Don't worry, my team survived without me.

I babysat this little cutie for a couple of hours. Man, I forgot how tiring it is to chase/ entertain/ keep happy a baby! I have my moments when I long to have a little one in the house but I think I'm over that idea! The teens are keeping me on my toes in a whole different way than a baby does.

Finally, today is the 70th anniversary of D-Day. My grandfather landed on Omaha beach in the Normandy Invasion on the second day. I know so little of his time as a soldier and it was amazing to hear about it from my dad today. I know my gramps was an amazing man and was so modest about his accomplishments. I can only imagine how he felt as he climbed out of the boat in a foreign land.

This is a great bundle of 4 sets of task cards (also available individually) for practicing multiplication. They include QR codes to make it fun for the kids to check their accuracy. When students scan each QR code, it reveals the answer for that task card. You can use each set through the year as students master new concepts or use them for differentiation. Either way, they are easy to prep and fun for kids. They aren't seasonal so they can be used (and reused) all year.Here's a peek at what you'll get.

My students really love using QR codes to check their answers. They are more motivated to finish quickly and with accuracy. All you need is a device with a camera and an app such as i-nigma to scan the QR code. I sometimes set up an iPad as a scanning station for students who have finished their work. Other times I will put a couple of iPods at the station with the task cards. They hold each other accountable for finishing before they scan. The best part is that they get immediate feedback and you have less papers to grade!
